Keiji Haino x Pan Sonic — CTM.10 Berlin 2010

This video is a document of CTM.10 – Club Transmediale, an event held in Berlin in 2010.

Reconstructed by visual artist - Takeshi Furuya (Poetry-Filming), it is based on rare live performance and interview footage originally filmed for Samurai FM, a popular internet radio program of the time.

The film interweaves rare footage of the thrilling synergy between Keiji Haino and Pan Sonic, captured in 2010, the year Pan Sonic came to an end, with interviews in which Keiji Haino reflects on his philosophy of live performance, coalescing into a lyrical visual poem.

Although the audio was recorded using the camera's built-in microphone and bears its technical limitations, the luminous colors and fragments of Haino's words, woven with noise, become a lyrical silence that quietly permeates you.

Chiudiamo la Stagione 36 di Area Sismica con un evento irripetibile: un trio che rappresenta lo stato dell’arte della ricerca sonora globale.

Non è un semplice concerto, ma un incontro tra mondi diversi. Da una parte le chitarre e le elettroniche di due leggende come O’Rourke e Fennesz, capaci di passare da melodie calde a distorsioni radicali, dall’altra la sensibilità di Eiko Ishibashi, polistrumentista e autrice della colonna sonora del premio Oscar Drive My Car, che intreccia flauto, voce ed elettronica.

FuJin and RaiJin are the revered names of the wind and thunder deities that have been ingrained in Japanese culture since ancient times. They continue to serve as poignant motifs in contemporary artistic expressions. Notably, the Japanese words for "deity" (神, Jin) and "human" (人, Jin) share the same pronunciation. The "FuRai" project encapsulates the essence of these deities, combining thunder represented through drumming and wind embodied in dance, culminating in electrifying improvisational performances on stage. This initiative aims to convey the bounty of Mother Nature, celebrating her blessings in a dynamic blend of artistry and expression.
